Voted Best Child Care in Mount Pleasant!

Best Of Mount Pleasant 2016-logo

Meet the Director, Tricia Burgess

I have been educating and nurturing children for the past 35 years. After receiving my degree in Speech Language Pathology, I worked for Mecklenburg County Schools in Charlotte, NC, and Duvall County Schools in Jacksonville, FL.

Upon relocating back to South Carolina, I worked for 12 years as a Manager for the Tri-County Head Start program. I then worked for Charleston County Disabilities Board as their Children’s Director.

I joined The Sunshine House Child Care Center in 2013. My hobbies include dancing and watching sports, particularly football!

  • Going back to work and leaving an infant is not easy for anyone, but I also moved across the country...I do not know anyone in South Carolina but I know I don't have to worry about my baby girl being taken care of; you all do a great job of that. Thank you for accommodating Gema at the Sunshine House!

  • [My son] claps when we pull up to school in the morning and when we drive by on weekends, he points and says 'school!'. He seems very happy every time we pick him up as well. It's hard to explain, but you can just sense in him that he's very happy. We can tell he's learning a bunch too! In just a few short weeks, his vocabulary has expanded, he's counting higher, saying 'ABC' every time he sees letters, pointing out more animals, saying thank you more, the list goes on and on. In short, we can see that he's happy and learning a ton…”

  • Thank you so much for taking such good care of Donovan and giving him many fun-filled days. He learned so much from his teachers.
