Meet Our Director, Ashley Byrd
My name is Ashley Byrd, and I have been in the early childhood field for more than 7 years. I’m married with three daughters and a bonus daughter. Originally from Alpharetta, GA, I grew up in Inman, SC, and served in the U.S. Army Reserve for 6 years.
I hold a master’s degree in Leadership, Policy, and Advocacy from the University of North Carolina-Wilmington, and a bachelor’s in Birth Through Kindergarten from Western Carolina University. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, spending time on our mini farm, and traveling with my family.
As Center Director, I’m passionate about creating a nurturing, safe, and high-quality environment where children and families feel like part of the family. I aim to build respectful, professional relationships with the community and ensure every child’s journey is supported at The Sunshine House.
Meet Our Assistant Director, Patricia Gragg
Hello! I'm Patricia Gragg, Assistant Director at The Sunshine House of Lenoir. With more than 9 years in Early Childhood Education, I’ve worked as an Infant Lead Teacher, NC Pre-K Teacher Assistant, fill-in Director, and cook. I hold an associate’s degree in ECE and am pursuing a bachelor’s in Birth-Kindergarten at WCU.
In my free time, I enjoy camping, fishing, and spending time with my family, including my dog, cat, and nieces and nephew.
