Meet Our Director, Alexis Jenkins
I have been part of childcare development for 30 years, and I have been with Sunshine House for 28 of those years. I started as a Pre-Kindergarten teacher and later became the Director. I have become part of so many families. I am now in the third generation of many of those families. I have a love for children and enjoy seeing them grow and develop under my leadership.
I've been married for 30 years to my best friend, Dwayne L. Jenkins. We are the proud parents of two wonderful men. Anthony resides in Charlotte, where he owns 2 of his own businesses. William resides in DC where he is a Special Agent Secret Service. Our world is brightened by our granddaughter whom we lovingly call Cupcake.
In my spare time I like boating on Lake Murray with my husband, spending time on Lake Norman with my family, camping and RVing with my family and shopping.
Meet Our Assistant Director, Evelyn Hart
I am originally from Charlotte, NC, where I was a Pre-Kindergarten assistant teacher with Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. I have been in early childhood education and childcare since 1999. I have resided in SC for the 8 years.
I am a blessed mother of 2 wonderful young men, a 9th grader with Lexington 2 and a senior at Newberry College. They are my inspiration for what I do.
Teaching young ones is very rewarding. I love to watch the look of excitement on a child’s face after making new discoveries. I have learned over the course of my career that if you present new material in creative and inviting ways, children will crave more learning.
Every day is a new day; a new day to be the spark in a child’s interest in learning.
