Dreamwork’s Trolls officially came out January 24, and we threw a release party to celebrate! We all know how expensive kids’ parties can be, especially when you’re trying to make everything “perfect,” so we have the down-low on throwing a modern  Trolls  party without breaking the bank!

All The florals

Since Trolls takes place in a beautiful, magical forest, we decided to create tablescapes of never-ending succulents! You can find these succulents and tons of other inexpensive florals at consumercrafts.com.

Décor for days

Décor like pretty vases, jars and photo frames can make any table and party scene complete—but these can also be very pricy if you’re buying them brand new. Try checking your local thrift shops or antique stores for cheap frames and vases. If you don’t have any luck finding pastel pieces, you can always drop by Home Depot, Hobby Lobby or even Wal-Mart and pick up pastel spray paints and make it a DIY project!

Perfect party favors

Kids love small toys or anything ‘new’ they get to keep from a party. Reusable drink cups are cost effective, useful and something that will not get disposed of immediately after the party. Another option is tiny plush toys or figures. You can get these from Amazon at very reasonable prices.

Plates & paper goods

The most inexpensive approach for plates, napkins, and cutlery is to steer away from buying the sometimes costly party products that have the characters on them. Instead, think color scheme and theme—what matches? We went with silver sparkle plates and pastel napkins, and you can buy those in bulk or large quantities on Amazon as well or from your local Party City.

Stream it to win it!

Streaming the movie to show during the party is a great feature. Some kids attending the party may be watching the movie for the first time. And if they have seen it, the soundtrack makes for excellent party music. Streaming the movie is also a lot less expensive than buying the DVD. Amazon Video gives you the option to rent or buy. You can rent the video for as low as $3.99. If you’re trying to take a screen-free route, you can stream the soundtrack and other great kids’ tunes on the Can’t Stop The Feelin’ radio station on the free Pandora app.

Food conquers all

Food can be one of the main buck busters for any event, so again, think theme and color scheme. We went with the following to keep it simple, colorful and tasty:

  • Hassle-free pizza delivery
  • Dunkin Donuts’ strawberry frosted donuts
  • Sprinkled sugar cookies from Publix Deli
  • Fruit Loops, Fruity Pebbles & Apple Jacks mix
  • Strawberries, green grapes, pineapples & blueberries bowl
  • Popcorn sprinkled with M&Ms

These easy steps can save you tons of time and money when planning a fun Trolls theme party for your littles. Be sure to tag us in your photos so we can see how you celebrate!
