Meet Our Director, Ashley Byrd
My name is Ashley Byrd, and I have been in the early childhood field for 7 years. I am married and have three daughters of my own and a wonderful bonus daughter. I was born in Alpharetta, GA and spent half of my upbringing in Inman, SC. I also served in the United States Army Reserve for 6 years.
In my spare time, I love to go hiking with my family, spend time on our mini farm, and travel. I hold a master’s degree from the University of North Carolina-Wilmington in Leadership, Policy, and Advocacy in early childhood education and a bachelor’s degree from Western Carolina University in Birth Through Kindergarten.
I am truly passionate about the early childhood field. I love watching children learn, explore, and grow. Being a Center Director is such an honor for me. I strive to create an environment that is nurturing, safe, friendly, and high-quality. When children and families enter my facility, I want them to feel like they are family.
I hope to establish and maintain a professional and respectful relationship with the community and a shared vision of high-quality care and education for all children who enter our doors. I have an open-door policy and want all families and children to feel welcome, encouraged, and supported. I am thrilled and honored to be a part of each child’s journey here at The Sunshine House.
Meet Our Assistant Director, Patricia Gragg
Hello! I'm Patricia Gragg, and I’m honored to be the Assistant Director here at The Sunshine House of Lenoir. I've been working in the Early Childhood field for 8.5 years now. During most of my time in the field, I was an Infant Lead Teacher. I have also worn many other hats in the field, such as NC Pre-K Teacher Assistant, fill-in Director, and cook. I hold an associate’s degree in ECE, and I’m currently working on my bachelor’s degree in Birth-Kindergarten at WCU.
In my spare time, I enjoy camping, fishing, and spending time with my family. I currently don't have children of my own, but I have a dog and a cat who I adore. I also have two nieces and a nephew who I enjoy spending time with.
I strive to create and maintain a positive environment with all the staff and families that we serve here at The Sunshine House in Lenoir.
